Psilocybin does something to your cells that has shocked scientists

I cannot stop thinking about this study. Psilocybin's metabolite, psilocin, extended human cell lifespan by up to 57% in lab conditions, preserved telomere length, and lowered oxidative stress. In aged mice (early 60s in human years), 80% survived a 10 month course, versus 50% untreated, with bald patches regrowing fur and grey turning brown again.

This is early evidence (cells in dishes, then mice, not yet humans). But it points somewhere bigger than "psychedelics help depression."It's another thread in the tapestry Chris Palmer and the metabolic psychiatry movement have been weaving: mental health and metabolic health are not separate systems. They're one network, talking to itself through mitochondria, hormones, and maybe now Sirt1 and telomeres too.
We've treated mind and body like separate departments for a century. Studies like this suggest a single, decentralised ecosystem instead, more mycelium than machine, where healing one node ripples through the whole web.
